RILEY COYOTE
2nd CHANCE RANCH
How this came to be...
I founded Riley Coyote Ranch over 25 years ago, and during that time found myself taking on and rehabbing several horses in not-so-good condition, whether it was in their training and understanding or that of a more physical nature. It would range from needing teeth, bodywork, feed, and foot care, to curbing the behavioral issues they were presented with.

To each of them, I reiterated "I didn't do it", and I truly don't know if they understood that concept, but the methods I introduced to each of them, allowed them all to thrive in different ways. Most of those horses found better homes than where they had lived in the past, so I felt a "calling" to help them transgress into still useful animals, provided they were paired with the right home.

It wasn't for the love of money, although covering my expenses was in my best interest, a lot of them were placed for more compassionate reasons that made more sense to me. As you can imagine, I am not in a position to take a financial loss in doing that, but sometimes the friendship and placing the horse in a perfect setting was far more rewarding!

Over the years, and with the situation at hand with my best riding mare, Luna, I moved into a more holistic hands-on experience and I branched out as "An Equine Connection". It's not a specific modality, but more of an overall presense and interaction between horses and human, as a way to help them figure some things out without vet intervention. Not that obstaining from using vets is the goal, it's a different way to heal certain parts of your horse, and they decide which part to focus on.

So, while exploring this new avenue, I believe my mission was no longer to breed, train, board and show horses, but rather to extend "extra care" to those horses needing a little TLC. In fact, some needed a lot of TLC, so let's not discount the power of healing.

With the help of a very intuitive chiropractor I worked with in NM, I saw a lot of severely damaged horses become useful again, and I witnessed the power of hands-on healing with each of these horses I brought home. Time and time again, each one reaching a better level of existence when paired with both of our compassionate energies working with the horse in mind...

I continued down this path on my own, using all the tools I had learned about, and added my own intuition as well. There are some things that just can't be explained or labeled when it comes to what I call holistic hands-on healing. With so many options out there, new technologies, etc., there is so much to learn about helping horses heal. Along with that, I have found that when working with horses, the people interacting with them during those sessions, truly feel the healing powers during that exchange of energy, so it's not always just about the horses.

Now it just made sense to name the rehabbing part of my horse journey to "Riley Coyote 2nd Chance Ranch" and although it has a specific name, it has a multi-faceted purpose to basically homing, supporting, and rehabbing specific horses who need more.

The intent is to keep "An Equine Connection" separate as a more service based branch of Riley Coyote 2nd Chance Ranch as compared to physically owning my own horse(s). So, at this time, everything is being handled under one webpage. Sorry if there's any confusion, but in time it may make more sense to separate things.

Meanwhile, it's still me doing what I have a natural talent for!
